Marianne Ahonen Photography

Hi! I’m Marianne Ahonen. I’ve grew up on a farm in the forest and fields in Punkaharju. I’m Mari’s sister. Growing up in the countryside built the basis of my life, values and a way of living. The Saimaa countryside awakened my interest in photography, especially to capture the normal life - that ordinary everyday life, which is full of surprises. Parties and special days are nice, but the things reflect back on when we’re older are those ordinary moments. 

My photography style is humane, gentle, real and natural - without forgetting the twinkle in the eye. I mainly photograph in nature because when people are in nature it’s easy for them to relax. In front of my camera (and with it) people laugh, cry, look back, and we, in the best case, find new ways to look at ourselves through photos. I’m inspired by little moments, looks and touches. Meeting people, being present in the moment and transmitting feelings through photos are my strengths, and I make my work with the camera with my full heart.
